Ultra Slim Light boxes
Q. Why do we use T5 fluorescent tubes rather than LED's in ultra slim light boxes?
A. Basically T5 tubes are three times more efficient than LED's. T5 HQ fluorescent tubes will give approximately 80 lumen per Watt, whereas a white LED will only give approximately 24 lumen per Watt. Therefore, T5 tubes are unbeatable when it comes to brightness to energy efficiency ratio and therefore, running costs.
The life expectancy of both are similar; an LED’s is between 10,000 and 20,000 hours in comparison to a T5 tube which has a life expectancy of 20,000 hours. However, when it comes to changing a T5 tube they can be simply obtained from a hardware store and replaced, LED's are harder to obtain and more difficult to replace.
