Custom Illuminated Sign Tray for Skysmart HQ

W&Co designed, manufactured, and installed a bespoke illuminated sign tray for the new headquarters of Skysmart, an aviation component manufacturer based in Great Dunmow, Essex. With a strong focus on quality and precision, Skysmart needed signage that would reflect the high standards and technical expertise of their brand.

From the outset, W&Co worked closely with the client to understand their signage requirements. Our in-house visualisation team produced realistic 3D renders of the proposed signage in situ, helping the client to clearly picture the final result on the building façade before fabrication began.

The final product was a custom-made sign measuring 3800mm wide by 800mm high. Fabricated at 100mm deep, the aluminium tray was powder-coated in a contemporary grey finish and featured precision stencil-cut detailing for the logo and text. Internally, high-brightness LED modules were installed to evenly illuminate the design.

To create a premium effect, the lettering was produced using 10mm opal acrylic, push-through mounted into the tray to allow light to pass through and produce a clean, glowing ‘halo’ effect. The standout feature was the aircraft logo, which, like the lettering, needed to be highly visible both illuminated at night and non-illuminated during the day. A selection of translucent vinyls from the Metamark range were applied to the face of the elements to achieve the right colours and visual contrast.

To complement the overall design, the strapline ‘Aviation Component Support’ was finished in black vinyl, allowing only the sides to glow—creating a sharp contrast and professional finish.

The end result is a visually impactful illuminated sign tray that commands attention on the industrial estate while staying true to the brand’s identity. Skysmart were delighted with the finished product, praising the quality of workmanship, efficiency of turnaround, and the smooth, collaborative service provided by W&Co from concept to installation.
