BBC Display Lightboxes

Light boxes are good viewing for the BBC

W&Co has supplied and installed various types of display lightboxes to the BBC for over fifteen years now. The light boxes supplied have always been very well received and the BBC has always been able to rely on W&Co’s ability to deliver high quality displays at a good price.

The most recent display lightboxes supplied to the BBC are Fabric Face Light boxes used in the studio for BBC’s coverage of the Six Nations Rugby. You can see them on television being utilised as a large illuminated graphic backdrop behind John Inverdale and his guests while commenting on the Rugby matches being screened.

They work really well as the fabric face LED light box provides even illumination without any flickering and offers one continuous large format graphic. These large format light boxes were also made dimmable so the technicians can adjust the light output according to the requirements on set.

Other projects with the BBC include a large bespoke ‘light box wall’ which was an unusual compilation of different sized light boxes. These illuminated displays were all put together at various depths displaying graphics highlighting different areas of the BBC. The Titan display light box was used for the project and in total 6 x A4, 3 x A3 and 3 x A2 light boxes were used in the display feature. W&Co also supplied the backlit prints with the light boxes and yet again the BBC were pleased with the results.

One of the earliest projects undertaken was for various ultra slim poster light boxes to be installed at BBC headquarters in London back in February 2002. The ultra slim display light boxes were chosen for their unique stream line appearance and likeness to television screens. They were installed in various areas of the building, including the office of the then, Director General, Greg Dyke. Backlit prints were also supplied with the light boxes which were of images taken from the BBC’s documentary ‘The Life of Mammals’ narrated by David Attenborough.
