Princess Yachts get ship-shape with big new signs

British luxury motor yacht manufacturer, Princess Yachts, recently commissioned 3 super large format illuminated Flex Face Signage which were installed at their multipurpose complex in Plymouth to replace some existing signs, enhance the brand’s identity and increase visibility in the local area. 

Flex face signage was selected because they can be made to extremely large sizes which was ideal for Princess Yachts whose signs ranged in size from 6-12m wide and up to 4.6m in height. This sign system also uses a very robust 200mm deep aluminium profile making it very strong and durable which is essential when installing signs at height and on the coast where they could be subject to extreme weather conditions. For this project the aluminium profile was powder coated RAL 5011, Steel Blue, in a satin finish to match the Princess Yachts pantone colour. 

Super bright GE LEDs which are low cost and energy saving were used for all signs to backlight the graphics throughout the night. Princess Yachts decided to have the same artwork, their logo and tagline, printed onto all 3 signs for uniformity. Each sign was installed to different sides of the building at high level to maximise visibility of the business from land and sea because while the building is accessible by road it is situated right on the water’s edge as it is functioning boatyard. 

The two signs installed on the sides of the building which faced the water had narrow walkways and incredibly restricted access which prevented the use of machines such as cherry pickers, so the install took place from scaffold and was completed safely over the course of 5 days. Once completed, the brand new flex face signage really refreshed and modernised the business’ appearance and allowed it to be seen during all hours of the day.
