Illuminated feature walls making UCL brighter

Colour changing RGB LED illuminated feature walls were supplied and fitted in the entrance lobby of UCL’s Christopher Ingold Building creating a contemporary and stylish architectural lighting feature for one of the UK’s most prestigious universities.

The LED light walls were part of £300k refurbishment to the university’s main reception area to modernise and brighten up the building which is home to their world leading chemistry department.

Both illuminated feature walls were produced at a total size of 2.5m high x 3.6m wide and was manufactured and then fitted into a pre-constructed recess.

The toughened glass fascia panels were laminated with a diffuser to the rear and were then neatly butted up together in line with the ultra bright LED light panels to create an even high brightness across the whole face of the illuminated feature wall.

High brightness RGB colour changing LEDs were used to evenly illuminate the feature wall and the changing of the colours was managed by an AM2 controller which was set to fade in and out of the full range of colours that RGB LEDs are able to offer.

UCL were extremely happy with the end result and commented that the quality and brightness gave the perfect impression for the prestigious university’s main entrance.
